OneLife Church is beginning a new series that they revealed in our service today which will examine the New Testament in 30 days. Seems like a daunting task right? Not really… it will require discipline on each of our parts to read the given scripture(s) on the given day. A great fact that Pastor Rodney pointed out today is that the Sunday Edition of the NY Daily Times is larger than the New Testament. I had no idea of this fact. Amazing, huh? If you are a statistical person like myself, there are only 27 books in the New Testament, 260 chapters, 7,956 verses… sorry got carried away. But that is less than a book a day. Remember when Twilight hit the shelves? It has 114 chapters. I have a very close friend that has read all 4 books over 3 times, in fact, I have heard of many crazier stories other than hers. I think our journey together will be incredible. Let me rephrase that, I know that this journey will be life-changing! The biggest reason that I know it will be life changing is the simple fact that it takes 30 days to create a habit and I long for us to desire to read God’s Word each day. I want it to be more than just a habit, I want us (me and you) to become addicted to it and that is simply my prayer. My prayer is that you will join us and OneLife Church through this journey as we began to dive into the most stolen book in our Nation, the New Testament. My prayer is that you don’t simply get a little bit of God’s Word get on you. My prayer is that you get soaked with His Word and get it all over you so that someone will notice something different. My prayer is that you and I begin to learn about the Man that we strive to be more like but truly don’t know much about. My prayer is for you to grow closer to God than you ever have as you join me on this incredible journey.

After sitting with some good friends during lunch today, I will be blogging about the 27 books in the New Testament. I hope to share a tangible side of the bible that you can grasp. Maybe shine a light on the who, what, when, and why of the books that we will dive into. I will entitle them such as, New Thru 30:: Matthew, Mark, Luke…etc. Hopefully so that you can understand who wrote the book and maybe understand the perspectives from their writings. For instance, Matthew was like a historian. His perspective was to tie the Old Testament in with what they experienced with Jesus, basically letting everyone know that the prophecies of the Old Testament were true and that Jesus Christ was in fact, the Messiah. Then on the other hand, there was John, the fourth book. John was Jesus’ best friend. John wants you to know Jesus as he did and he wants you to fall in love with Him just as John did. I have shared the book of John and John’s perspective before like John is trying to set you up on a blind date with his best friend and wants you to know all the great things about his friend, but this instance it will go a lot better than any of my blind dates because it’s with Jesus. If you make it through John with us, there won’t be any turning back. I hope that you at least make it there so that you can fall in love for the first time or completely all over again with Jesus. Again, I am praying hard for many of you to begin this journey with me and OneLife Church.
